Radiothon 4ZZZ – At the Local

The 4ZZZ Radiothon is on RIGHT NOW.

Seriously, just click that link – http://www.4zzzfm.org.au/radiothon2015 – and you can access a world of good feel, subscriber discounts and independent media.

Here’s why for the officially minded:

40 years of community support and coverage is no small feat by a community broadcaster and we want to recognise our achievement and entice community members to continue to support the station going forward, hopefully for another 40 years! This year our theme revolves around 4ZZZ’s banana mascot ‘Jeff’ and his journey to complete his bucket list as he struggles through a midlife crises. What’s on your bucket list? Maybe one of our amazing sponsors prizes this year will tick something off that list! We’ll be announcing all our subscriber prize opportunities as we lead up to our 10 day Radiothon festival.

Here’s why from me.

I think that 4ZZZ is responsible – in no small way – for the last years of my life being based in Brisbane. Through it I have not only met my At the Local co-host and #allroundbestfriend Domenico Natoli, but I have been exposed to a city that is populated by innovative creatives, hard working community volunteers, dynamos on wheels/circus apparatus/missions to make the world a better place. I have shared stories, seen just how much the smell of an oily rag can achieve and brought over 100 community interviews to the air over the past four years. 4ZZZ is one of the most liveable/live-inable reasons for Brisbane. Hands down.

I think it was almost the best day of my life when I got to close 30 years of community radio gap and be on the air with my dad, who first initiated me to community radio back at 3BA in Ballarat, before we even had STEREO.

You can subscribe from international, interstate, your pet house, your community or your band and if you do it in the Radiothon period, then you get an extra chance at PRIZES.

I am out of town right now, but if there is one place I would teleport back to be, it would be in the studio with Domenico asking you – as I am doing right now – to get behind radio in the best way possible, with a little cold hard cash and a big warm heart.

And remember, friends don’t let friends listen to commercial radio.

Domenico is going to be on the phones in just a little while, 1-2pm AEST and you can just CALL HIM (07) 3252 1555 or use the INTERNET to make the magic.
