just keep riding til it all makes sense

It’s okay to have split blog personality disorder sometimes.

I’m feeling happily leg weary, after a sweet morning with the F50 bunch. Perhaps more of that later.

Because today is Bike Friday. And yesterday, on Bike Thursday, I was lucky enough to run into Susie Q.

I noticed Susie because she was pimping some serious pink and I am serious about pink and the pimping of it. She was also on a folding bike and I am relatively serious about folding bikes. Susie, however, is seriously serious about folding bikes, having just recently returned from a several months several hundreds of kilometres (ed: correction, several thousands!) of riding type folding bike experience spanning the United Kingdom and France.

In the wind of the early evening, we marvelled at the hop on hop off convenience and excitement of travelling on folding bike – the easy, the excitement, the excellence. I have to admit, I’ve been rather curious about this kind of thing of late and I’m deeply admiring of those who do rather than speculate on the doers. Life is for getting into, and Susie seems rather excellently to have gotten into it!

Having been off her bike for about five weeks, she was relishing the chance to get back on the two best wheels in the world: hers. Thanks to the crew at Epic, she was back together, fully pimped and primed and about to get into riding in style. Michael Jackson single glove style.

20111021-111205.jpgPerhaps in that spirit, I took the bike that I love out for a spin with Andrew and his Friday morning bunch this morning. I’m still trying to work out what it is that I want from this riding malarkey. I just want to ride more and differently. The morning was perfect – light and sunny but not yet too hot, and the company was friendly and supportive and despite their speedy bikes with gears, just a nice amount of faster than I like to ride typically. And at the end is coffee. Sweet coffee.

The day is sending me a message. Every uphill leads to the down.
