The epistemology of losing

(not a ball poem)

If a man must know how to stand up
in a world of possessions,
then he was some kind of a man,
almost the Reagan-hard body
taking strategic defensive initiatives.

No fear is a luxury, the inflection of
a man makes an assault on coherence –
take back the borderlands, before they take you.
