(some poems take a long time to get true)
arguing in the car on a a long road trip
out of reception, out of patience
wondering why the detuned radio brought no comfort
somehow a long, confusing skirmish
neither of us aware of any details
becomes a metaphor
you and I over estimating our forces
you and I underestimating our risk
we and they taking sides willy-nilly
mutual destruction almost certainly guaranteed
I’ve had me a long road trip like that (mebbe two or three…but memory fails). You’ve captured the dynamic well.
As an aside, I apologize for my silence. I’ve been in a funk since I lost the opportunity to meet you due to my own clumsiness. For better or worse, be aware I remain a fan.
it’s still an honour to have you reading here, Jonas, and I’m sorry we didn’t get to cross paths in person too… don’t worry at all…
