Which is why I went to bed so goddamn early last night, so that I could be strong and manly for the task at hand, ready to answer the trumpet’s call when – come Wednesday night at 9.30 pm, myself, David Stavanger, Candy Bowers, Thomas Day and Betsy Turcot take to the tiny wooden plinth of the Brisbane Festival Basement Late nights.
This collaboration between the Queensland Poetry Festival and the Brisbane Festival has collected together some of Brisbane’s most engaged performers and writers to drive you over the hump day blues with the most blunt and tender of weapons – poetry.
This Wednesday, at the Metro Arts Basement, between 9.30 and 11.00pm, four artists will share stories of the very best straw men, the loveliest Aunt Sallies, the deepest truths and the most profound fallacies.
Folk like this don’t get together in the same room too often, and if you come out of the woods Wednesday night, then we’ll come right out of the closet back at you.
Hosted by yours truly, and with feature sets from Betsy, Candy and David together with an installation by Thomas, you know you’ve not a thing you’d rather be doing
