when we drink in myths

we let them survive
imbibed in blood
television or jesus or school

it takes exsanguination
for cruel release and vengeance
blister burst  boil lanced

the only remediation being
a drawing out of humours black
or breathing a vein as women do

let debauched and hungry leeches come
I want to swoon
until I forget that love conquers all

your greed is good
my submission is freedom
the certainty of death and taxes
