4zzz

I’m on the road right now, and with less internet and (dragonbasedtypeability) I feel a bit remote from the 4ZZZ fm Survival of the Zed Radiothon, if only because I’m not able to be manning the phones and taking subscriber calls!

But that doesn’t mean that my heart isn’t at 164 Barry St, Fortitude Valley, where the floors are stickier and the hearts beat faster.

Sadly, our thermometer is a little way away from where we would like it to be. Somewhere around the $13,000 mark, when we want it to be up around the $75,000. Nudging that figure upwards would enable us to keep broadcasting an amazing array of local music, artists, commentators, news hounders and general tune spinners, that often pass under the radar of mainstream broadcasting. If you like your news unlimited, your music unplaylisted and your announcers uncashedforcomment, please support 4zzz fm, 102.1fm.

If you want to be an extra special subscriber, you might like to support Domenico and I, who host At the Local, an award winning program that looks to support the best of Brisbane’s arts, community, events and organisations – every week a new reason not to move to Melbourne!

Here’s the official story:

4ZZZ’s annual membership drive is running from August 24 to September 2 and we’ve got a whole bunch of fantastic prizes on offer for those that subscribe during the 10 day festivities!

The theme for this year’s Radiothon is SURVIVAL! The survival of radio, the survival of the coming apocalypse (whether it’s due to economic collapse, mega-tsunamis, full power outage, rampant zombie-ism, bird flu, swine flu or man flu), whatever!

Radio’s essential for mass communication during disasters – when the power’s out all it takes is a couple of batteries to get a radio going and generators to keep us transmitting – we’re very proud of that.

The fact that 4ZZZ has survived as long as it has is worth talking about, because for over 38 years we’ve been supporting our local community, artists and businesses through independent radio, relevant and credible reporting as well sourcing and playing the ‘cream of the crop’ in local, national and international music.

Help us continue to do battle against mainstream media, weather the technological storms and SURVIVE!

For just a little $$$, you get great radio, awesome community support vibe love, we get to keep on the air and there are even great subscriber discounts from local business that believe also that the air deserves the special care that only community radio can give it.
