I only saw Guernica once

Wasn’t that what
I was looking at?
Veritas black-and-white
gnashing turmoil and detonation
a synecdoche of sorts:
a painting for all war.
I’m not sure any more.
Once I looked at lots of things
but it’s safer just to learn to dance
corporeal and insured
against paintings like that.
