leaving your run very late

Because, what with Avid Reader and Chosen Family and breathing in and breathing out. I haven’t had time to mention the following.

Festival Club Friday

Maybe there are still tickets to this? I think there are.

7-8.30 pm: Spoken Four
Four of the best wordsmiths from around Australia and the world pour their passion into the mic and ignite the audience’s imagination. One of the most popular festival events, this year featuring CJ Bowerbird (Canberra), Eleanor Jackson (Brisbane), Anis Mojgani (USA), and Kate Tempest (UK), hosted by Word Travels’ Creative Director Miles Merrill.

Troubadours and Minstrels

Greeted by a maestro who instructs ‘to follow the music’, four musos lead four small audiences to alcoves, underpasses and secret corners around The Rocks. These mini-performance spaces, decked out with couches, rugs, curtains and little amps, are the backdrop for poetry readings. The crowd rotates until each group has seen all four performances, featuring Anis Mojgani, CJ Bowerbird, Jo Sri, Eleanor Jackson and The Word Travels Quartet.

I feel very flattered to be included in this line up. I genuinely do. I’m kind of not even that sure how to process it. But if you’re there in Sydney, you might just like the chance to watch me and some other very capable, beautiful, changeable, breakable souls do the same at these events. I would welcome a friendly face in the sea.
