spirit fingers

Despite having been raised Catholic, my brother’s fascination with gaming means that the phrase “Spirit World” conjures up the 28th level of Doom II, so it was interesting for me to see the range of submissions received in response to this edition’s theme: Spirit Worlds.

Peril Edition number 14 is out now, if you want to know more. Enlightenment is only one click away. Poems from David Prater, Ouyang Yu, Shonni Hodge and BNE local – Vuong Pham.

It was a hard push getting through all the submissions, the diversity and energy of all the poets is to be commended, but – to be honest – I think I underestimated (once again) the deeply subjective nature of poetry. I mean, some things are “good but you don’t like them”, and yet, some poems that seemed intellectually “good” failed to give my skin that prickle.

Perhaps I should have selected them by Ouija board?

I’d love to hear people’s feedback – there’s rarely a comment out there in internet land.
