Now, you don’t have to remember every poem that is featured in the show (god dammit, sometimes even we don’t).
In fact, the very first version of this poem – which was titled “I don’t speak commitment” and is from the series around languages that I don’t speak. There were a number of lines that didn’t make the final cut, in terms of the transition from Poem Of My Direct Personal Experience into Poem Of This Show. One little section from v1.0 that has remained with me of late is the following:
I will not bind myself to you
because I am sure
there is no commitment in certainty.
Only in overcoming doubt
will you truly know
that I love you.
