Eleanor Jackson is a Filipino Australian poet,
performer, arts producer, cyclist, writer, gal
about town, feminist, freewheeler, and
friend. One day, she is going to be an
ideas curator. Which basically
means, she will tell you
exactly what she thinks.
Until then, you’ll have
to read between
the lines.
Brisbane Emerging Arts Festival
Brisbane Emerging Art Festival was established in 2010 to promote and present Brisbane’s leading emerging artists and the city’s contemporary arts culture. The vision and aim of the festival is to highlight and connect artists from across all creative disciplines, while being a significant platform for new and experimental art practice.
Eleanor Jackson was the curator for the spoken word program in 2012 and 2013, which has also featured Betsy Turcot in blistering form as a solo artist and both Betsy and Eleanor as a duo. In 2012, they performed an extract from in an extract of She Stole My Every Rock and Roll, while in 2013 they collaborated again to create a new, festival-exclusive work called “We burn not bury”, responding and remixing the works of Judith Wright in a complementary work to support the Aboriginal Centre for Performing Arts.
