have a heart

I been looking for a way to love you
to love you with all my viscera and my slime
you, with all your sweetmeats and your pain

I went into the forest, the black hole of its cool
night air, every creature sound so sharp and angry
and there I dug into the dirt, for some kind of truffle or treasure

just to give it to you

When morning rose and I was still there,
with no pearl to give to you
I unstitched my ribs and opened my cavities wide

there were twenty-six ravens pecking at my corpse
and all of them laughing in the bright bright sun
the fool I could be

looking for a way to love you.

Easiest way to love me is to support the pozible campaign for the Brisbane Emerging Arts Festival.
