stick and poke

Doubting Thomas is perturbing. There is a destabilisation of the established order of things when I hear him perform.

He is also going to be at the Brisbane Emerging Arts Festival later this month. This is what he looks like.

Despite having seen Thomas perform several times, I’m still struggling with an accurate description of his work and the way it makes me feel and think. He is dark, that much is obvious, but there’s an intelligence to the rage and a range to the topics which somehow makes me patient to listen harder. I might not always like what I hear, but you can’t live on the intellectual equivalent of cotton candy all the time. Sometimes, you need to take great mouthfuls of angry dirt to know just what you’ve been swallowing all this time.

Look out for him at BEAF.
