who’s who in the zoo

Resting the warmth of the post-Pushies afterglow, I opened my inbox and received a lovely email from Dan.

I don’t know Dan but Dan knows Google so now Dan knows me and now I know Dan.

And Dan asked (and I paraphrase) if I knew any good websites for finding out what is on in Brisbane. On in the terms of bikes is on versus just generally on. Like, how the heck is that Brizzy Bike Festival just, like, happening next week or something and how the hell do I find out about in advance, so that I can go to it/avoid agreeing to go to Tropical Fruit World that weekend, or doing three years of tax, or being stuck at the Apple Store in Chermside.

Now there are several nice/interesting/personable/important/hip and happening websites about cycling in Brisbane and I like reading many of them.

I don’t know, however, if there is one amazing very best website that is doing it all.

Is there?

Like a central very excellent website that has a great calendar that lets people upload events that are going on, profiles interesting things in the community, is not totally daggy, does not feature Comic Sans and will occasionally receive/solicit/encourage/engage/stimulate and advocate for improved cycling infrastructure, events and support?

What a lot to ask of a website.

I let Dan know that I’d ask about – so on that personal matter – once I find out what he is more specifically interested in then I wonder if we could point the young fella in the right direction.

As for me, however, I feel that this has prompted me to ask myself who’s who in the zoo?

Oh. And because I love when people send me pics of themselves on bikes – this is Dan. He was riding with this other young fellow for a while, so basically I’m interpreting this as a Dan does not frick around when it comes to bikes. Me, I frick around.

Speaking of the frick and frack, I am also currently interested in chicks with specs*. But more about that later.

*oh yes, another stupid set of questions that I am going to ask which is not doubt going to lead to all kinds of difficulties in the google issue. People who are into naked women in glasses. Just who I want reading my blog.
