Not so much on the pulse at your wrist, just kind of holding your hand.
I’ve said it before, this is a very slow news service. Though sometimes cycling appears in the news, and the Olympics are coming up and people are apparently getting excited post Cadel’s exciting Tour de France win, I’m just not able to give you the skinny on such wonderful events.
But I am receptive to hearing your opinion about them.
This is the slow cycling news. Things that happened weeks ago are still feeling fresh and wonderful.
Like Christine, who is kicking it old school. I’ve seen her four or five times after work, waiting at the lights from a nearby building where she works. Each time I see her I think, “ooh, look – a cute girl on a single speed – I wonder who she is”. And each time it is Christine. This either says something about how many cute girls there are on single speeds here in Milton, or how cute Christine is.
Because I am actually sometimes a bit shy, or perhaps just a bit aware of how obtrusive it can be to ask to take someone’s photograph, I have often hesitated in asking her for her shot. But today she was in her regular clothes, heading off after a day hard at work, hoping to check out a new bar in the Valley. Christine plays bike polo on Sundays with the the warm and welcoming crew at Musgrave Park and has always been real friendly like. I keep meaning to ask her for a ride – let’s see how I go this weekend, eh?
Soon, it will be too hot here in Brisbane to cycle in regular clothes. Although it rained an awful lot (by my standards) this past summer in Brisbane, I also remember the days of sweaty suncream in your eyes sticky heat and I’m not sure soon that I’ll be seeing many hotties in their helmets who aren’t well, just actually really hot.
