the lash and the circle blue

I know that you might think this is a very humble blog; it is a very humble blog. But it is also visited upon by (reality level) aceness. I say, reality level, because it’s not like Ellen Page is answering my emails, but some other pretty ace people are doing so in support of this amazing (and thankfully only 10 days long) challenge to send Besty to Nationals.

Take Ellen B for example. Ellen is a former member of the Brisbane Roar and member of the Australian squad who is now trading footballs of a different shape in an opposing team of AFL to Ms Best. Don’t we think it best if I avoid this discussion too deeply? I am not across enough AFL to get into the soccer vs AFL side of things. Suffice to say, Ellen is a very talented athlete and presumably we could all learn a lot from her in terms of sporting things.

If she can catch car keys, then I’d for one would have lots to learn.

So what inspires the kind of people who can compete at an elite level, play several kinds of football and still be generous of spirit enough to support the opposition (truly sporting behaviour one would have to admit)?

Her mum. Iris Beaumont. Ellen let me know that, although her mum has passed away now she is still very much a real source of inspiration to her.

Which made me think a lot of my nanna, who died about five years ago and still feels like I could give her a call on my way home from work, just to let her know of my silly day. She’d have thought this whole blog thing a total hoot.

This is her button collection, put to good use for once, since I am always forgetting to keep buttons. I used to love to play with these buttons on quiet afternoons, sorting them into colours, mixing them back up again, putting them into containers, spilling them on the floor. I don’t know. I was a boring kid. It’s nice to see them again. Made me remember an amazing lady, being told of someone else’s amazing lady.

Tomorrow… Another famous donation will be received.

It’s late. I’m sleepy.
