try something new every day

Mae West, not my desk calendar, once said ““I’ll try anything once, twice if I like it, three times to make sure.”

Having just been almost hit by a car coming to work, I’d have to say – I’m not keen to try it once at all. Lucky for me, both myself and the big white Discovery stopped in time for me to make a rather girlish squealing noise, to slap the bonnet with my hand and to wobble about awkwardly with my foot caught in the toe straps. All the while thinking, “ace, just didn’t get hit by the car, but am about to fall straight into traffic.”

I thought I was fine until I had to stop on the bikeway and have a tiny cry; sometimes you just get that weird adrenalized heat feeling of knowing that “that was lucky”.

I’ve had a few friends get hit by cars recently, one by a bus of all things. Time to take care out there folks.

And it seems it’s not just Brisbane.

By the by, went to the Treadly thing, what a fun night – so many people so little time and, well, in fact, too many people and me with a bad case of meerkating, I was unable to have a proper conversation. I’ll be sure to get in touch elsewhere folks. By which I mean you, and you. Sorry for being so distracted!

(And for those who don’t believe me, while there’s no pics, I have diarised proof)
