The love?
Well, hurry up – you’ve only two more days to go.
How can you show your bike love with plaques???

Well, it’s easy folks.
It’s a funny thing – about this time last year, the gals at the Sugarspokes received a lovely email to say that someone called “Bob” had nominated us for a Cycling Promotion Award, which – although we never knew who Bob was and/or if they were joking, was actually rather flattering and warm heart feeling.
It’s nice when someone says you have achieved something. It’s lovely in fact.
Who cares if your achievement is humble? If you’re just doing your bit, and not winning the world champs or nothing.
As a culture, we are often more inclined to complain than we are to congratulate and whether it’s good service a restaurant or a dear friend it can sometimes be nice to say – thank you, I believe that you are bulk ace. I wish there was more of you to go around.
If you are feeling flattering and warm heart feeling about someone bike related, then I wonder if you’d spare some time for a few words of support and recognition for your favourite cycling type? It may be as fruitful as Brendan Bailiey’s run at Scody 2009 Cyclist of the Year but whatever. I say do it!
Perhaps you like the (social) media personality of Fyxomatosis TC? I do. Perhaps I shall nominate him for his promotion of cycling in the interwebs, then book a flight to ride this year’s Roobaix? Why not.
Or maybe the crew at Fixed.org.au who kindly upgraded me from “muppet” to “hipster”.
Or Gear, who at the very least are blogging about everything cycling under the sun. Maybe you love Candy Cranks, or a great bike store, or your Bicycle Queenslanders.
Possibly I might not thank the Brisbane City Council (though maybe I might, I’m feeling equivocal), because their bike lanes are just crazy, and I heard recently they could only fork out $1000 to support Queensland Pride Festival and that sounds kind of lame to me. Who knows, maybe Campbell will need to start courting diverse voter groups soon.
In the meantime, try not to get squashed on Coronation Drive.
Now – go nominate your loved ones – http://www.cyclingawards.com.au/
Off you go!
