Brisbane is hot

I had friends move here a couple of years ago and – although they certainly made a great go of it, buying a house, getting busy at work, getting family passes to Dream World etc, they never really took to Brisvegas. Admittedly, she was from Tasmania so the weather, while pleasant in winter was an issue for her. She looks good in polarfleece.

I can understand this. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea. For me, however, I’m astonishingly pleased with the lay of the land.

The only thing is – it’s freaking hot right now. Really freaking hot.

I don’t mean hot in a cool way, I mean hot in a dear lordy I’ve just washed the sheets again because oddly it feels always like someone else just slept in them. Gross.

They are predicting storms this afternoon and I for one am glad. I had a dear friend come and visit this weekend and there were definite periods of body temperature checking when we would look at each other saying, “are you sweating like you’re about to die?” or “do you have another top I could borrow?”. So it was lucky we were not riding around. I don’t think I could have done it. We were rescued by Blackstars cold pressed ice coffees. And some Valley perving on Friday night.

This lady, however, did make the effort to ride around in the Saturday blistering sun. And I may just attempt to returns some colour to this photo when I get home tonight, because she really was a peaches and cream lovely, still in the cool of a lovely little Japanese homewear store, where the china is cool and the air conditioning is high. Jamie I believe her name was. I believe she appeared both friendly and stylish. Or at least not too weirded out by me.

I also believe I said I would ride in this?

Maybe I just said it to myself. I am hardly the rollers type, but then again, Brisbane – things I wouldn’t do in Melbourne, seems a fitting and rather happy making byline for this whole experience.
