But still smiling…
Now, I’m not usually one for rescuing for a damsel in distress. I mean, often enough it’s me in distress, so there’s no use the drowning trying to share their life jackets (not to self, Leonardo Di Caprio).
But I couldn’t help notice this lovely gal the other day, looking just a little perplexed as her bike issued an almighty crack sound and then promptly froze up, right in the middle of Swanston St commuter traffic. Suspected culprit: broken bottom bracket. Proposed solution: take it to someone who knows what they’re doing.
That said, we got to stop for just a few moments to have a bit of a chin wag and a casual “how do”, which reminded me just how much I enjoy no-fuss fashion. Just a clean shiny black lid. Just nice plain black glasses. Just a simple straight shiny side ponytail. And a double face spank-me gold digital watch.
What a nice way to break down.
What is not nice, however, is hearing that the last decade or so has seen an 86% increase in serious cycling accidents with some 14 cycling accidents in the past 24 hours on Melbourne streets.
I’ve said it before, ride safe. And take care of your fellow cyclists.
